2nd Annual East Meadow PreTravel Tournament to Benefit Melissa's Rainbow of Joy
The East Meadow Soccer Club will be hosting an outdoor tournament designed exclusively for U9 boys and girls’ teams to be held May 22 and 23, 2010. All of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Melissa's Rainbow of Joy. Melissa’s Rainbow of Joy was founded in 2006 to honor the memory of Melissa Joy Siegel, a former player in the East Meadow Soccer Club whose life was tragically cut short in a tragic alcohol related car crash. The mission of Melissa’s Rainbow of Joy Foundation is to advance drunken driving awareness efforts through established organizations such as MADD & SADD. The foundation also awards scholarships to student athletes exhibiting the leadership and charismatic qualities that Melissa is remembered for. Each team will be guaranteed four 50 minute games played, with a playoff format. Teams will play 2 games on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday. This event will offer an excellent opportunity to play competitive teams on quality fields while raising money for a great cause.
